Katalina Chung and Collin Bampton CUSP Our team has designed CUSP to be placed atop a stump. We think of this as a new life for something otherwise overlooked. The artwork is a large seed or bud-like form fabricated as a ribbed wooden structure. The piece is light, airy, and hollow. Its exterior surface is raw and unfinished, allowing it to weather and become visually connected to its surroundings. The interior surface is treated with a fluorescent pink paint, implying a sense of growth from within. In this location, the interplay between an almost unapparent structure and a pop of color should convey a sense that viewers themselves have discovered something worth cultivating. kalian-chung.com collinbampton.com
